You already knew that we are obsessed with Olivia’s über chic style on The City. As far as we’re concerned, the girl is the queen of strategically pairing retro-inspired pieces with high-end designs. And this jacket from the “Mingling with the Commoners” episode serves as proof.
From its regal epaulets and placket to its embossed metal hardware, this knit double-breasted jacket by Silence & Noise nods to vintage military fashion while serving as the perfect finishing touch for a high-class city look. And imagine our surprise when we discovered it’s readily available from one of our favorite trendy retailers: Urban Outfitters!
Every now and then, a handbag comes along that is so polished, so functional, so utterly beautiful that it makes us want to drop everything, find it at one of our favorite online retailers and purchase it immediately. This is one of those bags. Meet the Totally Turnlock Sondra Bag from Marc by Marc Jacobs.
The accessory astute among you will recognize that this is the bag Erin from The City carried in bronze into her job interview with One Management, Allie’s modeling agency, on the “The Truth Hurts” episode. From its soft and supple grained leather to its subtle front and side pockets with twist-lock closures, you’ll fall in love with the understated details on this bag. Whether you’re hoping for a successful date or looking to make winning first impression, hearing the words “You have good style” (just like Erin did) is almost an implicit part of carrying this Marc Jacobs masterpiece.
Each week, the ladies of The City certainly “bring it” in the fashion department. But this week, we’re particularly excited because their fabulous footwear has been getting some well-deserved airtime. Check out, for instance, these Report Signature Clinton Booties seen on Olivia in this week’s “He Never Said He Had A Girlfriend” episode. From their pyramid-studded ankle strap to their exceptionally high heel, they exude a tough-girl vibe that no one on the streets of New York will want to mess with. That, and they serve as the perfect finishing touch on already fierce outfit!
The word is out! In the most recent “He Never Said He Had A Girlfriend” episode of The City, we found out that Catarina kissed fashion model Adam. Though Adam denied the rumors, Catarina confronted his girlfriend, Allie, at an art opening and confessed the truth!
Hearing both sides of the rumor, if you were Allie, what would you do?
Does anyone know who makes the yellow dress Edie wore on “The Best Thing That Ever Happened” episode of Desperate Housewives? She’s wearing that dress while she’s standing in her bedroom talking to her psycho husband and remembering when she first met Eli Scruggs, the handyman who just died. Any ideas?-swotr
We looked everywhere for that dress! It’s the “Marliyn” dress by Catherine Malandrino. A lot of retailers have changed out their inventories since the show filmed in 2008, and we are only left with inspired-by looks – fabulous ones at that! Check out this A-line dress that has some similar features:
We were lucky enough to hit the set of The Real World: Brooklyn before they broke it down after filming the show. The sets this year were amazing – the folks at MTV really take time to think about eco-friendly design.
Many of the textiles used in the house, like this Amy Helfand rug, were made in ways that had little impact on the environment – or the people producing the items. And to use the computer this year, the housemates had to pedal away on a Schwinn bike hooked up to a power generator. That’s one way to think twice about browsing the Web!
Check out our full set tour of this awesome house here, and keep coming back for news on the products seen on MTV … and pretty much every other show out there!
Among all of the luxurious (not to mention expensive) looks on The City that could quite possibly grace the cover of your favorite fashion magazine, you’ll more often than not find a bold piece that is within reach. And sometimes, you just have to look closely.
Case in point? Try this Football Peace Ring from Ettika jewelry inspired by the one seen on little miss Whitney herself in the “Good Things Come in Threes” episode. Its lovable peace insignia serves as the face on the solid thick gold band, and the ring makes the perfect playful alternative to your traditional cocktail jewelry.
Real World Brooklyn begins tonight, and we’ve had the pleasure of taking an exclusive set tour of the house where the shenanigans happen. What we love about Real World of late is that they make every attempt to use socially conscious product in their design. Case in point? Check out this beautiful rug featured in the new house’s living room:
Amy Helfand, the Brooklyn-based artist behind this piece, is committed to fair labor practices in producing her rugs. (We were surprised to learn that many hand-knotted rugs produced overseas actually made by children in poor working conditions. Amy’s work is certified by Rugmark, which guarantees fair labor practices in production.)
Amy told us this fabulous piece is available via her studio for $11,200 – ‘Wild Garden’ design. In case you still need convincing, it’s hand-knotted at 100 knots/inch in Nepal from Tibetan wool and Chinese Silk, and is available in custom colors and sizes as it is made to order. Size is 8′x10′. See the rug on Real World: Brooklyn tonight, and keep coming back for more exclusive products from the show.
New year, new fashionable show! We love it! As you are probably aware, Whitney Port, one of our fave Hills mavens, has just launched her brand-new show, The City, on MTV. We’re going to diligently track her style here… but we wanted to bring you the scoop on her cute jacket from the Manolo shoe signing. It’s a black leather bomber by Member’s Only – so cute! Also – a little trivia – the shoes Whitney picked out are the very same blue satin Manolos SJP had in her closet on Sex and the City: The Movie! Fabulous.
