No, we’d never choose neon green socks to go with this little ensemble, but we love the dress Betty is wearing on the ‘In The Stars’ episode of Ugly Betty. Perfect for summer, this cap-sleeved belted frock by Nanette Lepore is, well, a bowlful of cherries for us. Get it in black and white here, and shop more from this episode of Ugly Betty here.
Is Betty finally saying buh-bye to her braces? According to Ugly Betty series creator Silvio Horta, the sparkly, silver smile will be ancient history by the end of next season.
“Her braces will be off by the end of next season. Next year, there’s going to be a progression in her look overall. It’ll still be Betty, but you’ll see some growth in that direction,” Horta told EW.com’s Michael Ausiello.
We’ll be very interested to see what “progression” her look might take – but anything less than 11 colors per outfit would be unnatural, in our humble opinions.

On tonight’s episode of Ugly Betty, titled ‘Sugar Daddy,’ Betty will be chilling in a skirt by Diane von Furstenberg. We love the yellow-orange palette for Spring, and think it would be perfect paired with a little yellow top. It’s a bit much with Betty’s mismatched tights and shoes, but we think you’ll be able to see past the noise to the true fashion.
Even though she’s a fashion mess when she’s all put together, we think Betty‘s look is actually pretty cute in pieces. That’s why we’re all over this cute heart cardigan from the ‘Dress for Success’ episode. It’s fun, it’s sparkly – and it’s perfectly OK in small (very small) doses. See for yourself:

Betty throws a party for Jesse in the ‘Crush’d’ episode of Ugly Betty, but the real party was on her feet. Seriously, did you check out her shoes? Way cute. We happen to know that Betty sported two darling pairs of J.Crew pumps on this episode, and we love both of them equally.
OK, we know you can’t see her feet in the pic, but her shoes are to die for! Snap them up at J.Crew before they’re gone, and check here for all the latest Ugly Betty stuff you have to have.
Our girl Betty is a little mixed-up fashion wise, but that’s why we love her. At the end of the day, her individual pieces are imminently wearable. Take this week’s outfit from the ‘Ugly Berry’ episode. Peel the layers, strip the outfit to the core, and you actually have something… cute. As in we-would-totally-wear-this-to-a-cocktail-party cute. And it’s by one of our fave eclectic designers, Betsey Johnson. See for yourself:

In ‘Betty Suarez Land,’ Betty goes summery for a jaunt to Coney Island in a Nanette Lepore blouse we’d wear anywhere. You have to look past the Betsey Johnson jumper and sweater combo (and don’t even THINK of looking at the fuchsia ankle socks) to see its potential, but notice the delicate white eyelet top peeking out? Yep, folks – another Betty Suarez fashion winner (when taken on it’s own, of course).

The costume designers on Ugly Betty are tops at finding Betty the most unusual footwear. In ‘Crimes of Fashion,’ Betty sports the fuschia version of these Betseyville by Betsey Johnson Janae wedges. However, we did a little digging, and discovered these cute bow shoes actually come in three funky colors. Feeling frisky? Get ‘em all.
There’s nothing we love more than awards season. Whether it’s the Oscars, Grammys, SAG Awards, or Emmys we know that in addition to a wonderful show we are going to get many great red carpet looks. The red carpet among other things is where we start to see “what’s next” and see what should be on our fashion radar. Judging from the lovely ladies seen Sunday at the 60th Annual Emmy Awards we’ve detected a few fabulous trends we wanted to show you.
Beautiful Brights
Lipstick Jungle’s Brooke Shields was a vision in pink in her strapless Badgley Mischka gown. Not only do we love the color but we like that she had fun with the texture of the bodice and the ruffled long chiffon bottom of the gown. Desperate Housewives’ Teri Hatcher lit up the carpet in her sunny ruffled Monique Lhuillier gown. Mary -Louise Parker kept it simple and sexy in blue Roberto Cavalli number while Julia-Louise Dreyfus showed off her slinky shape in an orange Narcisco Rodriquez gown with cutouts.
The LBD
For those of you who don’t know, the Little Black Dress, or LBD, is almost the surest way to look chic to most glamorous events. Apparently many of today’s hottest starlets got the memo as they showed up on the red carpet in beautiful black dresses in all lengths and styles.
Ugly Betty’s America Fererra took a chance on a shorter gown and scored big on style. Her vintage Werle dress and her Old Hollywood locks dazzled the crowd. Hayden Panettiere totally strayeed from the glimmery flowing gown she wore last year and stepped out in a slinky black curve hugging gown. Private Practice’s Kate Walsh was a little more severe, in a good way might we add, than we’ve seen her in the past with a structured Zuhair Murad dress with fringey tiers and a blunt cut bob. Finally, The HIlls star and designer Lauren Conrad came in a sweetheart neck strapless flowy gown of her own design. She told US Weekly one of her red carpet fashion inspirations is Kate Hudson due to her bohemian yet polished style and we can definitely see the influence in her design.
Metallics
Metallics were another great trend we saw a lot of on the red carpet. Heidi Klum sparkled in her Armani Prive gown, one of many changes she did that night. Eva longoria shunned pregnancy rumors in her short bejeweled Marchesa dress. Lost’s Evageline Lily looked elegant in her strapless shimmery gown and Felicity Huffman looked drop-dead glamourous in her sleveless split v-neck gown with sequins.
All in all these ladies really turned on the wow factor last night and got us totally pysched for the new TV season. Vote now in our Emmys Poll- and see our other Emmy galleries here.
