Expert Panel: SNOB Style’s Erika Stanley on The Fashion Show
FILED UNDER: Exclusive Interviews, Expert Panel, The Fashion Show Posted: May 8, 2009 by behindtheseams | LEAVE A COMMENTToday we had the pleasure of interviewing designer and stylist Erika Stanley of S.N.O.B. Style about The Fashion Show debut and what she thought about the judging, designers and show format.Â
Erika, who is no stranger to the entertainment industry (she has styled some of television’s leading ladies), told SeenON! that the concept of the show is very intelligent, and the idea that the designers creating clothing for wearability and sellability is brilliant. We both agree that the fact that you can buy the winning design online after the show airs is a major bonus! Read on for Erika’s interview.
SO!: Did the judges make the right decision?
ES: I agree with the choice of James-Paul. I was nervous at first because his work appeared more haute-couture and not necessarily sellable. However, I LOVED the dress that he created. It literally goes with what is on trend right now - the origami look / manipulation of fabric.
SO!: What was your favorite look?
ES: I didn’t agree with any of the staples. The closet idea of a “must have” was the tube skirt. My favorite looks were the dresses by James-Paul and Merlin. I also loved the dress that Johnny R. created out of a tee-shirt. His recreation into the dress showed great creativity and his sewing quality was impeccable, especially for being created within an hour, which is a sign of a good designer.
SO!: What was your least favorite?
ES: Kristin’s entire look. It was very unfocused and had too many layers. You could tell that it was sewn badly and was very ill-fitting.
SO!: Who do you think will be in the final four?
ES: Johnny R., Andrew (Panty-Christ), James-Paul, and Merlin (Although I think that he has ulterior motives, and wouldn’t be a good person to go into business with. He does make for great TV, though.
