Project Runway Spin-Offs Coming This Year

If you can’t get enough Project Runway, we’ve got good news, two spin-offs are in the works.  The Wall Street Journal reported this morning that “Project Runway: Masters” and “Project Runway: Accessories” will be coming to your TV soon.

“Masters” will see professional and established designers facing off in challenges to earn m0ney for their favorite charities.  ”Accessories” will be, yep, you guessed it, accessories designers competing in weekly challenges, à la the original PR.

Both shows are set to premiere this year.

Sneak Peek: Rami Kashou and Kenneth Jay Lane Holiday Steals

We’re half-way through Holiday Steal week and based on how quick these deals have gone, we’re guessing you’re really digging it. So fast in fact, that today’s Amrita Singh clutch was swooped up before we had a chance to pick one up ourselves! Not that we’re mad or anything.

With two days left, we thought we’d give you faithful readers a sneak peek at the last two Holiday Steals of the week: a $549 made-to-order cocktail dress by Project Runway’s Rami Kashou for only $99 (btw, this is the same dress worn by Heidi Klum on the red carpet!), and a Kenneth Jay Lane crystal cocktail ring for $9.99.

These go on sale at 9am Thursday and Friday respectively, so you’ll want to sign in (or register) early or find yourselves empty-handed (kind of like we did today).

One Last Chance: Own an Original Gown by Project Runway’s Mondo Guerra

  |  { 2 } COMMENTS

He may not have been the judge’s final choice for Project Runway‘s season 8, but Mondo Guerra was clearly the fan favorite. Their outrage at his loss was evident everywhere: TV recaps, the blogosphere, and most clearly during last week’s Project Runway finale sale, where every piece of Mondo’s collection sold out…and sold out fast!

We’ve got a secret though, sometimes designers create looks that don’t make it onto the runway for all sorts of reasons.  Usually, no matter how amazing, the piece just doesn’t work cohesively with the entire collection. Well, dear friends, we’ve got our hands on one of these said pieces: a Mondo Guerra original gown. This halter style drops matte black studs across the empire bust, with layers of chiffon falling to the ground.

This hand-made couture dress goes on sale Monday, along with the complete runway collections of Michael Costello and the top Project Runway designers. Sign up now for exclusive access to this 72-hour sale at www.SeenOn.com/ProjectRunway!

Preview: Project Runway’s Michael C. – The Complete Collection On Sale Monday

He can drape a dress, that was never a question.  But after creating an entire runway collection to try to secure a slot at NY Fashion Week, Project Runway‘s Michael C. was sent home.  It was an emotional goodbye, and even worse, his fans never got to see his creations.  True to his signature style, ethereal floor-length gowns were the mainstay of his collection, often adorned with feathers and beading.  Each piece was beautiful and wearable.

Come Monday, November 8, some of you will be wearing Michael’s designs.  The entire collection—the original runway pieces—go on sale starting at 9am PST.  Check out the photo gallery for a sneak peek of the collection and sign up now for access to this exclusive 72-hour sale at www.SeenOn.com/ProjectRunway.

Project Runway – Week 4 in Pictures

Well PR fans? What did you think of last night’s episode?  There seems to be quite a lot of dissent from the designers.  Could the judges and designers have such opposite tastes?  It was almost unanimous in the design studio that the floral coat and silver leggings that Christopher created to compliment a Phillip Treacy hat were headed for the win, yet when it hit the runway, Christopher landed in the bottom 3.  Conversely, no one had a kind word for Michael C.’s bronze gown, with Ivy even calling it a “hot mess,” yet it took the top prize and Michael won immunity for next week.

So what’s really going on? Is this just great television? Or will we see more designer favorites packing their bags?

Check out the photo gallery below of this week’s runway looks. And remember, you can bid to win these authentic pieces over at www.projectrunway.com–the auction is on now.

And keep reading for this week’s “Gunnisms,” our favorite PR one-liners, courtesy of Mr. Gunn himself…after the jump.

Project Runway – Week 3 Roundup in pictures

The pressure is setting in and tempers are starting to rise.  After winning the first two challenges of Project Runway, Gretchen started out episode three by proclaiming “I’m a force to be reckoned with.”  She did make it to the top 3, but we soon found out that Gretchen is not untouchable.  For this week’s challenge of designing a look created entirely from party-store supplies,  Andy, with his phenomenal cocktail dress of braided ribbons, took home the top prize, while Sarah was sent home after designing a ‘boring’ dress from cardboard palm trees.  All in all, this episode was a colorful one, and the designs were appropriately guest-judged by none other than the queen of color herself, Betsey Johnson.

In between all the judging and the walking and the sewing, were some quintessential Project Runway moments. Follow us after the jump to relive last night’s episode in all its glory.

1 In, 2 Out: Photo Recap of Week 2 Project Runway

Talk about pressure.  This week’s Project Runway challenge awarded the winner a Times Square billboard campaign for Marie Claire. With a lot more room creatively-speaking–to design a look fit for the Marie Claire woman–we got to really see each contestant’s design aesthetic.

Casanova surprised with a demure and elegant two-piece.  Valerie wowed the judges with a structured dress made fun in a punchy red.  Gretchen took the top prize once again, with a deep-V romper.  While shockingly, two designers went home this week: Nicholas for his three-piece skirt suit, and Jason for a ‘messy’ safety-pinned dress.

Do you agree with the judges? Should both Jason and Nicholas have been sent home? Is Gretchen the “force to be reckoned with,” as she put it? Take a look at our photo gallery of this week’s runway looks to decide for yourselves.  Then head over to www.ProjectRunway.com, where you can bid to win all of these designer looks!

Project Runway Season 8 – You Decide

  |  { 1 } COMMENT

Season 8 of Project Runway is under way.  This past week, McKell was eliminated for her blue floral dress, leaving 16 designers.  Now that you’ve had a chance to see what the designers are bringing to the sewing table, who do you think is positioned to take it all this season?
