I’ll admit I am obsessed with handbags. Obsessed. They are one of the few things in fashion other than jewelry where it doesn’t matter if you are a size 2 or 20 they look good on you. I also think they can be very telling about your personality. It was with this theory in mind that I approached Meaghan Mahoney Founder and Chief Editor of one of my favorite blogs, The Purse Blog, about decoding what the handbags seen on the arms of the ladies of Lipstick Jungle say about them

MEAGHAN OF THE PURSE BLOG ON LIPSTICK JUNGLE:

The new kid on the block is fitting in just fine. Filling big shoes, NBC’s hit show Lipstick Jungle has taken us by storm. Three of “New York’s 50 Most Powerful Women” have not only given us entertainment to watch but also given us wardrobes to dream of. With the lives of Nico, Wendy, and Victory being so different, it is no wonder their wardrobe and accessory choices speak volumes about their characters. Each character is inherently different but at the end of the day the three women are the perfect match for each other.

Wendy Healy, who is played by Brooke Shields, balances her life as a high-powered movie executive and a mother with pizzazz and determination.

Her handbag choices speak perfectly to her character, showing she is a woman on a mission to continue working her way up to be more and more powerful. She opts for classic handbags, which make subtle statements in their understated beauty and materials. The intricate Bottega Veneta Intrecciato Tote, Lambertson Truex Glazed Crocodile Bag, and Longchamp Patent Leather Satchel are perfect matches for a woman who is professional, determined, and classy.

While Nico Reilly, played by Kim Raver, is also striving for the best, she finds herself needing a boost of fun and spice in her life. Nico’s position as Editor-in-Chief of Bonfire Magazine leaves her a force to be reckoned with.

Nico pairs her signature form fitting jackets with a variety of eye-catching handbags, including the funky Kotur Fane Hitchcock Clutch, Kara Ross Python Bag, Cavalli Leopard Shopper, and her Domenico Vacca Alligator Bag. Her use of eye-catching handbags coincides with her desire to add something to her blasé life.

Lindsay Price plays Victory Ford in this series, a designer who is struggling to get back into her groove. Her style is bold and brilliant, making her the stand out girl of the group.

Victory uses her handbags to only further define who she is, a free spirit with an eye for fashion. Victory utilizes bold colors and designs to coincide with her audacious spirit. Bags like the Kotur D’Abo Python Clutch, Lambertson Truex Gold Crocodile Clutch, Nancy Gonzalez Framed Croc Satchel, and her gold Valentino Nuage Bow Bag drape Victory’s arms as she travels the city in search of her design mo-jo.

The leading ladies of Lipstick Jungle are a strong and brilliant force not to be messed with. The show has captivated its audience and garnered the spotlight. While we all love their fashion choices, it is clear that this show speaks out to women around the globe, showing us that we can be powerful, bold, successful, and edgy all while keeping our best friends in tow.

What is the dress that Victory Ford is wearing in episode 5 of Lipstick Jungle (Dressed to Kill) the first scene in the jazz club? It is a gorgeous beige/silver dress. Also, what are the earrings and belt that she is wearing with it? – victoryford

Victory Ford was wearing a dress by Peter Som in the “Dressed to Kill” episode of Lipstick Jungle, which is no longer available online. We love the look of this Peter Som dress to get inspired by Victory’s style, though. Check it out here.
