Golden Globe Nominations: Hits and Misses

We’re full-swing into awards season with the announcement of the 68th Golden Globes nominations this morning and we couldn’t be more excited…for the clothes.  But before we get to that, a quick recap of the nominees, the snubs and the ‘what the….’

“The King’s Speech” came out on top with seven nominations, including Best Picture and Best Actor in the drama category. “The Social Network” and “The Fighter” trailed right behind with six noms each. “The Tourist” nabbed Best Picture, Actor and Actress in the comedy field, a surprise to everyone except maybe Angelina Jolie and Johnny Depp.

Noticeably absent this year are nominations for Leonardo DiCaprio in the Best Actor Drama field, Justin Timberlake for Best Supporting Actor after so much buzz around his “The Social Network” performance, and The Coen Brothers’ “True Grit” (not a single nomination, really?). On the TV side, powerhouses “True Blood” and “Lost,” after its final season, were both completely left out of the race.

Now, the question is, what will the ladies be wearing? With a nomination for Best Actress in “Love and Other Drugs,” this will be Anne Hathaway’s rehearsal to her Oscar hosting gig, so eyes will be on her.  Natalie Portman, Nicole Kidman, newcomer Emma Stone, and Michelle Williams will all be there in hopes of winning a statue.  With this line-up, we know we’re in for a fashion-forward red carpet.

See the  full list of this year’s nominations and watch the 68th Annual Golden Globes on January 16th, 2011.

Penelope Cruz looks light and lovely, pairing her cream colored dress with a soft lip color and dramatic eyes. We recommend lash blasting mascara to achieve a similar look.

A ravishing red carpet look wouldn’t be complete without breathtaking makeup and hair. See the stars’ glamorous close-ups and shop their beauty products and makeup in our 2009 Oscars Beauty gallery!
